National News: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday praised the success of Operation Sindoor, saying India’s military power has grown to a level where “victory has become a habit.” While speaking at an event in Lucknow, he said, “Operation Sindoor has proved that victory is no longer a rare event for us; it has become our habit.” The Defence Minister, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles produced at the BrahMos Aerospace facility in Lucknow.
BrahMos Aerospace, the company behind the supersonic cruise missile system, confirmed that it has completed the production of its first batch of missiles from the new integration and testing unit located in Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow. Praising the Indian armed forces for their precision and readiness, Rajnath Singh said that India’s enemies could no longer escape the reach of its advanced missile systems.
“The nation now knows that our enemies will not be able to get away from BrahMos. Every part of Pakistan is within the range of our BrahMos missiles,” the Defence Minister said. He sent a strong warning to Pakistan, saying that the events of Operation Sindoor were just a preview of India’s capabilities. “What happened in Operation Sindoor was only a trailer. But that trailer made Pakistan realise that if India could create Pakistan, I don’t need to say what else India can do,” he added. Rajnath Singh also mentioned that the BrahMos team has signed deals worth about Rs 4,000 crore with two countries in just one month. He said, “In the coming years, experts from other nations will come to Lucknow, turning it into a centre of knowledge and defence technology. The turnover of the BrahMos Lucknow unit will reach Rs 3,000 crore from the next financial year, and GST collection will be around Rs 5,000 crore each year.” The modern unit, inaugurated on May 11, 2025, includes all advanced systems for missile assembly, testing, and final checks. After successful testing, the missiles will be ready for use by the Indian armed forces.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “This is the beginning of a self-reliant India. So far, we have provided over 2,500 acres of land in six locations for this project. Through it, more than 15,000 young people in the state have found employment.” He added, “The Director General of BrahMos and the Defence Minister recently handed us a GST cheque of Rs 40 crore. I again told DRDO—tell us how much land you need, and we will provide it here. When 100 BrahMos missiles are produced every year, and later the capacity increases to 150, the state government will earn Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore annually in GST from these missiles.” Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, and several senior officials were also present at the event.
